Profound. Positive. Potential.

The Sky Is My Limit: A Ghanaian Community for the Mentally and Physically Disabled

Abled and Independent

At The Sky Is My Limit, we see Ghanaians living with mental and physical disabilities as unique individuals with untapped potential; individuals who are capable of contributing to their communities in truly profound ways.

Our charity works to provide young Ghanaians living with mental and physical disabilities with a space and community that helps foster and develop their abilities while seeing their true potential come to life.

From Donations…

Beginning in 2012, The Sky Is My Limit has been working in Ghana, constructing housing and workspaces for Ghanaian residents living with mental and physical disabilities. Our incredible donors and sponsors have seen us open The Sky House residence in 2018, followed quickly by a Women’s Residence, opening in 2019.

We now host 11 residents on the property, and are planning on expanding the Women’s Residence to allow for even more. The work and growth we’ve witnessed from our residents these past few years has already been substantial and worth celebrating: none of that was possible without the help of our generous donors and sponsors.

…to Self-Sustainability

While we continue to ask for help in the form of donations, we are also determined to see the operation become sustainable on its own. Apart from learning life-skills, our residents also grow their working-skills, developing their abilities to design and produce a variety of Ghanaian crafts. These products are then sold for a profit.

Weaving unique Kente products for sale both locally and in our online shop brings revenue to The Sky House, along with the sale of the produce they grow on the property. As we work to increase the capacity of The Sky House and Women’s Residence, as our program grows its reach throughout Ghana, and as Sky House residents continue to develop their skills, we approach closer and closer to our goal of The Sky House being a self-sufficient operation.

Our Campaigns

At this time, The Sky Is My Limit is fundraising for 3 campaigns:

1. The Sky House currently requires funding to remain operational, with donation money going to help pay for supplies and our residents’ working wages.

2. The Women’s Residence is currently planning a second storey, with donation money going to support that development.

3. And, finally, our well-digging projects (almost at 50 wells throughout the Volta Region of Ghana!) continues to find communities in need of access to clean water: donations will go directly to digging a well for a community in need.

Donate to The Sky Is My Limit

Every resident staying on The Sky House property becomes engaged with their community and with their own sense of self in ways that they never were previously. The Sky Is My Limit provides the space and support necessary for young Ghanaians living with mental and physical disabilities to realize their profound potential. Watching these incredible people ‘come out of their shells,’ so to speak, is the one true thing that keeps our charity going.

As a Canadian charity in Ghana though, The Sky Is My Limit also relies on donations and sponsorships from generous people like you – you too keep us going. CanadaHelps ensures your donation to us is made securely, and we ensure your money is spent supporting the residents at The Sky House and their individual development.
