Residents of the The Sky House in Ghana.

Our Vision

The Sky Is My Limit has a vision of Ghana that sees those living with mental or physical disabilities integrate into Ghanaian communities independently and with a strong sense of self-worth. This is a twofold vision. Not only do we see Ghanaians with disabilities changing their views of themselves, becoming more confident in their own abilities, but we also see Ghanaian culture becoming more accepting and understanding of individuals living with disabilities.

Our Mission Statement

By providing proper housing, land for gardening and animal raising, and workspace for Ghanaian craft-making at The Sky House and our Women’s Residence, The Sky Is My Limit’s mission is to foster positive life experiences for young adults with mental or physical disabilities through the development of both their living and working skills. By working directly with the local Kledzo community in Hohoe, we help bridge the gap between rejection and acceptance of the disabled, opening up dialogue and relationships amongst individuals on both sides of the equation. Our mission sees the residents at The Sky House graduate into placements within Ghanaian society, and with the individuals with whom our residents forged those relationships.

Our Campaigns

The Sky House

The planning and construction of The Sky House in Ghana, beginning in 2012, was the campaign where The Sky Is My Limit initially spread our wings. The first of its kind in Sub-Saharan West Africa, the land and building serve as the home base for our vision and mission in Ghana, hosting residents since 2018.

The Women’s Residence

Our latest campaign involves the planning and construction of a women’s residence in Ghana. Creating the space specific to women living with mental or physical disabilities became a significant development in our mission in 2016. It is with great pride that we now host female residents in a space that works for them, and highlights their achievements within the local Hohoe communities.

Volta Region Well-Digging

It began with residents of our Sky House. We were hosting a few from The Volta School For The Deaf, and learnt that the school had no access to fresh water. With the relationships we had built, it was something we knew we needed to help with. After successfully funding the well-digging for the school, we were connected with more places throughout the region that needed the same. The Sky Is My Limit has now funded dozens of well-digs and mechanized boreholes throughout the Volta Region of Ghana, and the campaigns for these continue.
